Brunswick County Library at 133 West Hicks Street is the headquarters branch of the Meherrin Regional Library System, a two-county public library serving Brunswick and Greensville counties in Southside Virginia. The system's combined collection exceeds 94,000 volumes circulating more than 131,000 items annually to a population of nearly 37,000. Inside the Lawrenceville building, the Dr. William McCaddin Pritchett Local History Room houses original working papers for Dr. Pritchett's book on Civil War soldiers from Brunswick County, along with microfilmed Clerk of Court records (wills, deeds, and marriage documents) and a digitized collection of local high school yearbooks spanning 1940 to 1977. The library also holds the Meherrin Regional Library System administrative offices. Passport applications and renewals are accepted by appointment, and the digital library offers an extensive suite of statewide and licensed databases through Find It Virginia.
