📖 About Nancy Guinn Memorial Library
The Nancy Guinn Memorial Library is the public library for Conyers and Rockdale County, Georgia, and the only branch of the Conyers-Rockdale Library System. Its roots reach back to 1919, when the Conyers Civic League opened a library inside Conyers Public School to help meet Georgia's accreditation standards; in 1921 the collection was named for Nancy Guinn, the League's founder and president, who led the drive to build it up. From 1953 to 1989 the library shared the DeKalb Regional Library System with Newton and DeKalb counties, then became its own independent Rockdale system in 1989. Today the library sits in Olde Town Conyers and belongs to Georgia's statewide PINES network, so a single PINES card borrows from more than 10 million items across some 300 member outlets. Out front stands 'The Blade', a 25-foot abstract sculpture commissioned by James Clover in the early 1970s that now serves as the library's logo and is catalogued in the Smithsonian American Art Museum's inventory.
