Lindsay Community Library is the public library of Lindsay, Oklahoma, the Garvin County seat located on the South Canadian River watershed about 24 miles west of Pauls Valley. The town itself dates to January 1902, when Lewis Lindsay donated 440 acres to connect the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe and Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific railroads halfway between Chickasha and Pauls Valley — and the city was named in his honor. The library at 112 West Choctaw Street holds 11,908 volumes and circulates more than 17,000 items a year — an unusually high turnover rate for a community of about 2,800 that reflects strong local reading culture. The collection spans print materials, audio materials, and video materials. The library is governed by a public Library Board of Directors, which meets regularly and is publicly posted on the city website.
