📖 About Ada Public Library
Ada Public Library was established on January 5, 1936, beginning in a single room at the old City Hall. Three years later, in 1939, a new Georgian Colonial-style building designed by architect Albert S. Ross was constructed at 400 South Rennie; that original structure is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places and operates today as the Ada Arts and Heritage Center. In 1981 the growing library relocated to its current home at 12th and Rennie — the former Montgomery Wards building — where it continues to serve Ada and Pontotoc County. The library maintains 15 public computers with internet access and provides free access to Ancestry.com, Heritage Quest, local genealogy collections including the 1910 Pontotoc County Census, and Oklahoma Chronicles on microfilm. Extended weekday hours (until 7 PM) allow working families to visit after school and work.
