The Collinwood Branch opened in 1928 and was designed by Walker & Weeks, the prominent Cleveland architecture firm behind many of the city's landmark buildings. Its modernized classical design features a large arched entrance leading into a 14,100-square-foot facility built as a fireproof structure of brick with steel book shelving. The library was laid out with three club rooms whose folding doors could open into a single large auditorium for community gatherings, and it was remodeled in 1980. Today the branch sits close to Cleveland's Fifth District Police Station and a U.S. Post Office in the heart of the Collinwood neighborhood. It offers free WiFi, public computers, dedicated free parking and an outdoor space, along with printing, copying, scanning and faxing for a fee.
