Chartered in 1901 and tracing its community roots to 1872, Montour Falls Memorial Library is housed in the former Bank of Havana, designed by architect Charles Cook and constructed by Gillispie and Coreyell in 1864. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1993; its original hardwood furniture, locally harvested clay-brick walls, and stained glass windows installed around 1906 remain intact today. The library serves Schuyler County and the surrounding Finger Lakes region as a member of the 48-library Southern Tier Library System, giving cardholders access to a shared catalog spanning Schuyler, Chemung, Yates, Steuben, and Allegheny counties.
