📖 About Hillview Free Library

Hillview Free Library traces its roots to 1895, when Ms. Luther E. Hamilton donated a book collection to the community. The library operated informally for years before Jane Keyes Hamilton purchased property in 1899 and relocated an 1860s-era schoolhouse to serve as its permanent home. Architect J. Dickinson Hunter later designed the library's distinctive stone structure, featuring a stone-arched entryway, a curved wooden door, and an oak-lined great room that remains its hallmark today. A children's room was added in 1967, followed by renovations to the great room in 1997. The library holds a New York State charter issued on December 19, 1901, and continues to serve the Lake George shoreline communities of Diamond Point and surrounding Warren County.
