📖 About Brighton Beach Library
Brighton Beach Library opened in December 1949 as the 43rd branch in the Brooklyn Public Library system. The neighborhood's growth quickly outpaced the original building, and in 1964 the branch moved to its present address at 16 Brighton 1st Road, just a few blocks from the Atlantic Ocean boardwalk. A renovation in the early 1990s modernized the building while preserving its role as a community anchor. Today the library serves a richly diverse population with strong Russian- and Ukrainian-speaking communities, offering a multilingual collection, computer access, and programming in multiple languages. Brighton Beach Library is part of Brooklyn Public Library (BPL), a network of 61 branches serving all of Brooklyn.
