Moriarty, New Mexico sits at 6,200 feet on the Estancia Valley floor east of the Sandia and Manzano mountains, roughly 40 miles east of Albuquerque along Interstate 40. The city takes its name from Michael Timothy Moriarty, an early homesteader who arrived in 1903 when the Albuquerque Eastern Railway brought new settlers to the valley. The Moriarty Community Library is housed at 202 South Broadway alongside the Moriarty Historical Society Museum — two institutions that together preserve the stories of Torrance County's ranching and farming heritage.
