Plainsboro Public Library is the public library of Plainsboro Township, a Middlesex County community anchored by the Princeton Junction commuter corridor and a large pharmaceutical research industry cluster. The library traces its roots to a modest 500-book collection housed on four shelves in 1964, open just four hours a week. Decades of township growth drove an expansion into a standalone building in 1993, and on April 10, 2010 the library moved into its award-winning 35,000-square-foot facility at 9 Van Doren Drive — a $12.4 million building designed with large community meeting rooms, a dedicated maker area, and tech-rich study spaces. Today it belongs to the STELLA consortium of New Jersey libraries, giving cardholders reciprocal borrowing across dozens of member systems and statewide interlibrary loan through JerseyCat.
