📖 About Paramus Public Library
Paramus Public Library grew from a small reading room that began in 1957, moving first to a historic one-room schoolhouse on Midland Avenue in 1959 before Paramus residents approved a bond issue in 1963 for a purpose-built main library. The new Century Road building was dedicated in April 1964 and quickly became a regional landmark. In 1979 the library joined the Bergen County Cooperative Library System (BCCLS), giving cardholders access to millions of items across all Bergen County member libraries through the shared catalog at para.search.bccls.org. The library also operates the Charles E. Reid Branch at 239 West Midland Avenue. With a collection of more than 107,000 volumes circulating over 573,000 items annually, and 2,176 programs a year drawing nearly 41,000 participants, it ranks among the most active public libraries in New Jersey.
