Sandown Public Library has served this Rockingham County town since 1893, when it was established with state assistance and an opening collection of 857 volumes. Today the library holds nearly 30,000 items and is a founding member of the Southern New Hampshire Library Cooperative (SNHLC), a shared-lending partnership launched January 30, 2012 with Kimball Library in Atkinson and Plaistow Public Library — giving cardholders access to a combined pool of roughly 120,000 volumes through a single Aspen Discovery catalog. Beyond print and digital lending, the library supports the community with a Library of Things (tools, drones, metal detectors, and kitchen equipment), museum passes to regional cultural attractions, genealogy resources, a quiet study room, notary public services by appointment, and free digital streaming through Hoopla, Kanopy, and Libby. The library is governed by a volunteer Board of Trustees and supported by a Friends of the Library group.
