Tonopah Library District is the public library of Tonopah, Nevada, the county seat of Nye County and one of the most historically significant mining towns in the American West. Tonopah's silver deposits were discovered in 1900 by Jim Butler, triggering one of Nevada's last great ore rushes. Within just six years, the booming town had built what became the third public library in Nevada: a one-story stone structure completed in 1906 and designed by architect John J. Hill. Today the library continues to serve the community from 167 S Central Street, open Monday through Saturday. It belongs to the Cooperative Libraries Automated Network (CLAN) — the Nevada Library Cooperative's shared catalog system — and offers free access to OverDrive for digital lending.
