📖 About Arapahoe Public Library
The library's origins trace to 1919, when the Arapahoe Women's Club organized the town's first lending collection; the doors opened to the public in 1920 in a downtown location. Over the following six decades the library moved through ten different homes before the city acquired the former Peace Lutheran Church building at 306 Nebraska Avenue in 1984 and donated it to the library's governing board — giving the collection a permanent, purpose-adapted home at last. Today Arapahoe Public Library participates in the Pioneer Consortium, a shared Koha integrated-library system that links it to dozens of small and mid-sized Nebraska libraries, and uses Aspen Discovery for its public catalog interface. The library gives Furnas County residents free access to NebraskAccess, the state-funded database suite covering magazines, genealogy, health, legal, and small-business resources.
