📖 About Davie County Public Library

The Davie County Public Library has served Mocksville and Davie County since 1943, when it was established as a department of county government and first occupied a rented room above the post office. In 1945 it moved to the courthouse basement, and in 1955 to the county office building. The library moved into a purpose-built facility in 1966, and a major renovation in 1992 added the Martin-Wall Local History Room and a multipurpose room. Today the library at 371 N. Main Street holds roughly 68,962 volumes and circulates over 127,000 items per year, making it one of the busiest libraries in the Piedmont for its county size. Its seven-day-a-week schedule — including Sunday afternoons and evening hours until 8:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday — reflects its role as an essential resource for county residents of all ages. The library has contributed 862 items including yearbooks and photographs to DigitalNC, North Carolina's statewide digital collections platform, and belongs to NC LIVE, which gives every cardholder free access to eBooks, audiobooks, databases, and language-learning tools from any internet connection.
