About Charlotte Mecklenburg Library – Mountain Island
The Mountain Island branch of Charlotte Mecklenburg Library opened on December 10, 2005, replacing the former Coulwood branch to better serve the rapidly growing northwest Mecklenburg community. Situated in Mountain Island Village at the intersection of NC Highway 16 and Rozzelles Ferry Road, the branch is part of one of the largest public library systems in the Southeast, with over 20 locations serving Mecklenburg County. Charlotte Mecklenburg Library has earned national recognition for its innovation and community impact.
The Mountain Island branch offers a wide range of services including physical and digital collections, children's storytimes, teen programming, and adult learning resources. Cardholders have access to the full Charlotte Mecklenburg Library network, including Libby for eBooks and audiobooks, Kanopy for streaming films, and NCLive for research databases — all free with a library card.
