The Mabel Public Library serves the small city of Mabel and surrounding rural Fillmore County in the driftless bluff country of southeastern Minnesota. Mabel — named for the daughter of an early settler — sits at the convergence of Canfield Creek and the Upper Iowa River watershed, a landscape of steep wooded ridges and rich farmland shaped by Norwegian and other Scandinavian immigrants who arrived in the second half of the 19th century.
