📖 About YDL-Superior Branch
Superior Township joined the Ypsilanti District Library district in 2007, initially served by a small temporary branch on MacArthur Boulevard. After years of planning, the Library Board broke ground on a permanent location in April 2021 and held a grand opening at 1900 Harris Road in November 2022. The new building is more than seven times larger than its predecessor, with 22 computer workstations (up from 7), two group study rooms, a community meeting room, a dedicated youth area, a teen and tween zone, and triple the collection size. In its first three months, the branch drew over 7,000 visitors and issued roughly 70 new library cards per month. Funding came from The Young Family Foundation, the Towsley Foundation, and dozens of community organizations. The branch also features a Learning Garden developed in partnership with Ann Arbor Farm & Garden, where patrons can access gardening resources and fresh produce during the growing season. A drive-up book drop is open 24 hours a day, and the building's Wi-Fi is accessible around the clock from the parking lot.
