📖 About Chesterfield Township Library
The Chesterfield Township Library traces its roots to January 1954, when Bernard and Ceola Trinity began sharing 500 books from their home — the 'Bernard T. Trinity Neighborhood Library' — officially opening in May 1955. After years as a county branch, the library gained independence in November 1994 when voters approved a dedicated millage, establishing it as a distinct public institution. It moved into its current 21,000-square-foot building at 50560 Patricia Avenue (near 23 Mile Road and Gratiot Avenue) in August 2005. In November 2018, the Library Board acquired 5.698 acres at 28380 21 Mile Road for a future purpose-built facility. Today the library serves Chesterfield Township residents with a robust collection, Buddy's Makerspace, Library of Things lending, after-hours lockers, bookmobile service, and access to the Michigan eLibrary (MeL) statewide digital collections.
