📖 About Sage Branch Library
The Sage Branch Library is a branch of the Bay County Library System (BCLS) serving the north side of Bay City, Michigan. The branch has roots in the pre-1974 Sage Library, one of three independent libraries that merged on January 1, 1974, when Bay County voters approved a $700,000 tax levy to consolidate the Bay City Public Library (and its Broadway Branch), Sage Library and Pinconning Library into a single county-wide system. The branch underwent renovations completed in spring 2004 as part of a 2000 voter-approved capital improvements program. In 2006, voter rejection of the operating millage twice forced the system to temporarily close its branches; the Sage Branch reopened in 2007 when voters restored funding at a reduced millage rate. Today the branch offers Michigan Notary Public services by appointment, public computers, interlibrary loan, and access to the Bay County Library System's digital collection including Michigan eLibrary (MeL), Libby, hoopla and Kanopy.
