St. Charles Parish Library was founded in 1955 as a demonstration library sponsored by the Louisiana State Library, and the East Regional branch in Destrehan has been part of the system since 1978. Located at 160 W Campus Drive, the library anchors a growing parish east of New Orleans, offering a Children's Room, a Teen Room, a computer lab, and private study rooms that can be reserved. An after-hours meeting room is available for community groups outside regular library hours. The TOPAZ magnifier assists patrons with low vision.
