📖 About Crescent Hill Library
The Crescent Hill Library is a branch of the Louisville Free Public Library, the countywide public library system serving Louisville and Jefferson County, Kentucky. Built in 1908 to a Beaux-Arts design by the architecture firm Thomas & Bohne, it was one of the first of nine Carnegie-endowed libraries in the city and remains an anchor of the Frankfort Avenue commercial corridor. A west-side addition was completed in 1961, and a full renovation begun in 1988 reopened the building on March 24, 1994; the branch was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1981. Today it offers two floors of library services, reading and study areas, a meeting room and a children's wing decorated with literary-character murals and a castle theme. As part of LFPL, a Crescent Hill card borrows across every branch in the system and unlocks Kentucky's shared digital collections.
