📖 About Sylvan Grove Public Library

Sylvan Grove Public Library was organized in the fall of 1925 by the Tuesday Club, a local women's civic organization, making it one of the grassroots public libraries of north-central Kansas. Since 1956 the library has called City Hall home, and a major renovation completed in 2019 created a bright, welcoming space suited to 21st-century community needs. The library circulates over 10,000 items annually and holds a collection of 7,400+ volumes for the town's 291 residents and surrounding Lincoln County neighbors. Long-time director Ramie Schulteis was honored as the 2018 Kansas Library Association Librarian of the Year, recognizing sustained dedication to rural library service. Sylvan Grove sits at the heart of Post Rock Country, where 19th-century settlers quarried the native Greenhorn limestone to build fences and structures — and the 2020-designated downtown historic district still showcases those stone buildings just steps from the library.
