📖 About Perry County Public Library
The library's roots trace to 1893, when Tell City residents organized the Tell City Library Association and began lending books from a downtown drugstore. Formal public-library service launched in 1905 under school board oversight, and a $10,000 Carnegie Corporation grant in 1917 funded the system's first dedicated building at 9th and Franklin Streets. The current Tell City branch opened in 2002 at 2328 Tell Street, featuring a 15-station technology lab, a dedicated genealogy department, and a children's area. A 1996 merger brought in the Perry County Bookmobile, and a 2012 consolidation added the Cannelton Library District, unifying all of Perry County under one system connected to the Evergreen Indiana Consortium — giving cardholders access to materials from more than 100 Indiana libraries.
