Library service in Lithonia began in 1907 when Lula Almand lent books from her home, one of DeKalb County's earliest lending libraries. The Woman's Club of Lithonia expanded it, and in 1938 it became a branch of the Decatur Library System. The current Lithonia-Davidson building opened in 1992 on Church Street in Lithonia's historic downtown.
