The Seminole County Public Library - North Branch serves Sanford and northern Seminole County from 150 N Palmetto Avenue, a short walk from the city's historic downtown and lakefront. It is one of five branches in the Seminole County Public Library System, which county voters approved in 1974 and the Board of County Commissioners formally established in 1978; the North Branch grew out of the system's expansion after a 1982 library-bond referendum.
