📖 About Park Hill Branch Library

Built in 1920 with Carnegie Corporation funding, the Park Hill Branch is a distinctive Spanish Renaissance-style building designed by noted Denver architect Burnham Hoyt. The original one-story structure, measuring about 64 by 32 feet, was finished in buff-painted cement with a roof of Spanish tile in shades of gray and terracotta, and cast-stone cornice and trim. A basement auditorium provided space for community gatherings from the start. The building was enlarged in 1964, and a 1994 renovation restored original historic details, including a Robert Garrison sculpture and a stone plaque honoring "The Ancient Mariner." In 1989 the branch was designated a Denver Landmark in recognition of its architectural and cultural significance. It continues to serve the tree-lined Park Hill neighborhood along Montview Boulevard.
