The library system traces its roots to a small Placerville City Library founded in 1906 on the upper floor of Confidence Hall; a County Free Library followed in 1947 when community volunteers raised funds to purchase a permanent home. Today the Placerville Branch offers five days of service each week, with evening hours on Tuesdays and Wednesdays to serve working families.
