📖 About Kearny Public Library
Kearny Public Library has served the Copper Basin since 1958, when the Kearny Woman's Club launched the town's first volunteer library through Arizona's Library Extension Service. As the Ray Mine's open-pit expansion relocated the communities of Ray, Sonora, and Barcelona into the newly planned town of Kearny, the library grew alongside them — moving into the town services building in 1961 and expanding when the original Ray library's holdings were donated in 1965. After Mayor Arthur Pomeroy's death in 1969, the library was renamed the Arthur E. Pomeroy Library in his honor; celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2008, it was renamed the Kearny Public Library. Today it is a member of the Pinal County Library District, giving cardholders access to a shared Polaris catalog and the full suite of district digital resources across all 14 branch locations.
