📖 About Eloy Santa Cruz Library
Eloy Santa Cruz Library is a joint-use public and school library co-located on the campus of Santa Cruz Valley Union High School at 1000 N Main Street, operated by the Pinal County Library District. The library traces its origins to 1947–48, when the Kearny Woman's Club launched a lending library at the Community Center through Arizona's Library Extension Service. ❓ Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Eloy Santa Cruz Library inside a high school — and can the general public use it?
Yes. Since 2012 the library has shared its building with Santa Cruz Valley Union High School at 1000 N Main Street, a joint-use arrangement common in smaller Arizona communities. The public library section is fully open to all Pinal County residents during regular hours (Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–4:30 PM) with no school affiliation required. A free Pinal County library card is all you need.
Why is the library closed on weekends?
The weekday-only schedule reflects the joint-use arrangement on a school campus. Both the Pinal County Polaris system and the county's facility page confirm these hours: open Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, closed Saturday and Sunday. For after-hours book returns, an external drop box is available on the building exterior.
What digital resources can I access from home with my Pinal County library card?
Your card unlocks cloudLibrary (eBooks and eAudiobooks), hoopla Digital (movies, music, comics, eBooks — no waitlists), ComicsPlus, and TumbleBook Library for young readers. You also have access to DAZL (the Digital Arizona Library), which includes the Arizona Memory Project, historic Arizona newspapers, and reference databases — all free.
How can I get certified in digital skills at the Eloy Santa Cruz Library?
The library is an official Northstar Digital Literacy site. Northstar offers free online modules covering essential computer skills — from basic internet use to email, social media, and job-search tools. Work through the curriculum on the library's public computers (use PIN MW29 to access the Pinal County portal) or at home, then take the proctored assessment at the library when ready.
