📖 About Marion County Library
The Marion County Library is the public library of Marion County, Arkansas, headquartered on Old Main Street in Yellville, the county seat perched above the Buffalo National River country. The library traces its origins to the late 1930s, operating first out of temporary locations including the Legion Hut, the Harrison branch and the county courthouse. In 1967 the Library Board voted to move the collection to its own building; construction finished in 1968. A substantial annex was added in 2000 through grants from the South Shore Foundation of Bull Shoals and the Madelyne M. and Edward C. McCarty Foundation of Dallas. The library's mission is to promote literacy, inspire imagination and spark curiosity across all ages, and it participates in the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, mailing free books each month to every enrolled Marion County child from birth through age five.
