📖 About Prescott/Nevada County Library and Educational Facility
The Prescott/Nevada County Library and Educational Facility traces its roots to an early school gymnasium and moved several times before the community rallied around a permanent home. In 1999, then-State Senator Mike Ross secured a $1 million federal grant, and a challenge gift from donor Jane Bemis — matched dollar-for-dollar by local fundraising — helped complete the new building in June 2003. The current structure at 121 West Main Street, designed by architect Jerry Hollensworth, combines a traditional public library with an on-site educational center providing free literacy instruction, English-language learning, high school equivalency exam preparation, family literacy, math, and workforce-skills programs. Patrons can reserve computer time in 45-minute sessions, copy, scan, and fax on-site, and borrow eBooks and audiobooks through the Libby app via the Arkansas Digital Library Consortium. A dedicated genealogy room supports family-history research, and a children's area hosts the annual summer reading program.
