Columbia County Library has served the residents of Magnolia and surrounding Columbia County since the city opened its first library on June 1, 1929. The library is governed by the county-funded Columbia County Library Board and circulates more than 79,000 items per year from a collection of 140,000-plus volumes. In recent years the library expanded well beyond its traditional stacks: a 2026 renovation added a dragon-themed children's reading room, a sensory-play area with gear, magnetic-tile, and LEGO stations designed for neurodivergent learners, computer-learning kiosks, an upstairs tutoring center, and medical-training equipment for teens and adults. Weekly programming runs five days a week and includes baby-and-toddler story time, preschool story time, home-school story time, after-school story time, afternoon art, and a Friday movie hour. A dedicated genealogy desk partners with the South Arkansas Heritage Museum to help residents trace Columbia County family history.
