Prairie County Library serves Hazen, a community of about 1,500 residents incorporated on July 8, 1884, and situated in Prairie County in the Arkansas Delta lowlands along US Highway 70 — a stretch that passes through a 0.25-mile annexed corridor on Interstate 40, an area well known to motorists as a speed enforcement zone. Prairie County is Arkansas's second-smallest county by population and occupies the flat, agricultural terrain between the Arkansas River to the west and the White River bottoms to the east. The library provides Prairie County residents with a circulating collection, public computers, and connections to the Arkansas State Library's Traveler Statewide Digital Resources program. Hazen was birthplace of actor John Hancock (1941) and has been featured in the HBO documentary series 'The Invisible Pilot' and the Reelz network's 'On Patrol: Live.' The library is open Monday through Friday during regular business hours.
