Bella Vista is a Benton County city in the Ozark Mountains of northwest Arkansas, born as a primitive lakeside resort in 1909 and later transformed into a planned retirement community anchored by seven private lakes and a network of trails and golf courses. The city officially incorporated on January 1, 2007, and has since grown at an extraordinary pace — an 82 percent population increase between the 2000 and 2020 censuses brought the community to more than 30,000 residents and established Bella Vista as a bedroom community for Bentonville and Rogers. The Bella Vista Public Library is operated by the city as a municipal department and provides free library cards to all Benton County residents with a valid photo ID and proof of residency.
