Ketchikan Public Library anchors the reading life of the "First City" of Alaska at 1110 Copper Ridge Lane, a waterfront community where the Tlingit, Haida and Tsimshian peoples have fished Tongass Narrows for generations. The library is the public hub of the First City Libraries Consortium — an eight-member group that also includes Ketchikan Gateway Borough School District libraries — giving cardholders access to a shared automated catalog and daily courier service between branches. Its Outreach program, one of only two in Alaska, delivers materials directly to homebound residents, senior centers and the Ketchikan Correctional Center. The collection spans DVDs, CDs, graphic novels, magazines and print books alongside digital access to over 40,000 eBook, audiobook and magazine titles through the Alaska Digital Library. The library also serves as one of the few community spots to pick up Alaska PFD application forms and federal tax materials.
