📖 About Leeds Jane Culbreth Library
The Leeds Public Library was established in 1923, making it one of the older public libraries in Jefferson County. In September 1967 a Library Development Committee — on which civic leader Jane Culbreth served on the Board of Trustees — began advocating for a larger, modern facility that the city so clearly needed. Jane Culbreth dedicated years to library development alongside her many other civic contributions, and on April 19, 1998, the Leeds City Council held a special meeting to officially rename the library in her honor. Today the Leeds Jane Culbreth Library serves the community from its Parkway Drive location with a welcoming mix of children's programming, teen activities, and adult resources. The library is a member of the Jefferson County Library Cooperative, giving every cardholder access to more than 40 branches across the county with a single free card.
