Kennedy Public Library serves the town of Kennedy, a small Lamar County community incorporated by act of the Alabama legislature on February 18, 1895, and home to about 435 residents as of the 2020 census. Located at 17885 Highway 96, the library is one of seven branches in the Northwest Regional Library system coordinated from Winfield, which serves Lamar, Marion, and Franklin Counties with a shared catalog, book delivery, grants, and digital resources. Kennedy is notable for producing federal judge William J. Hibbler, Major League Baseball player Jake Propst, and musician and fiddler Lee Stripling. The library offers four days of weekly service—Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday—starting at 8 a.m., making it accessible to morning commuters.
