📖 About Washakie County Library
The Washakie County Library serves Worland and Washakie County, Wyoming from its location at 801 Big Horn Avenue. The first record of a library in Worland dates to 1909 — a collection of books and magazines kept in the Baptist Church. In late 1939, the Woman's Club formally requested that the county establish and fund a public library, and in 1940 the Washakie County Library officially opened with an appointed librarian and a library board. In 1990 the Friends of the Washakie County Library was formed to support the library; by 1995 the library had installed its first public-access computers, and in 2017 the Friends helped establish three Little Free Libraries at public locations around Worland. The library participates in Wyoming's WYLD network, also operating a branch in Ten Sleep (200 North Fir Street). Its collection of 77,558 volumes circulates some 69,189 items per year.
