📖 About Driftwood Public Library

Driftwood Public Library is the public library of Lincoln City, Oregon, a coastal city of about 9,800 residents incorporated in 1965 from the merger of five communities — Oceanlake, Taft, Cutler City, Nelscott, and Wecoma Beach — along a seven-mile stretch of Lincoln County shoreline. The library is named for the driftwood-strewn beaches that define the region, and occupies a second-floor suite at 801 SW Highway 101, close to the mouth of the D River, one of the world's shortest rivers, where it connects Devil's Lake to the Pacific Ocean. The library lends not only books and physical media but also Wi-Fi hotspots that support up to ten connected devices, serving a community where broadband access can be limited. Cardholders can check out eBooks and audiobooks through the Library2Go platform and participate in a monthly drawing for free Oregon Coast Aquarium Culture Passes. Bibliophiles can also enjoy the Dark and Stormy Night Author Series, an annual coastal literary event hosted at the library, as well as the Central Coast Word Surfers book discussion group. Free Little Libraries maintained by the library extend community reading access around the clock at locations throughout Lincoln City.
