📖 About Alexandria Public Library
The Alexandria Public Library is the public library of Alexandria, Ohio, a village of about 500 in St. Albans Township, Licking County. The library got its start in June 1935 when local residents met, borrowed 524 books from the State Library of Ohio, and opened in the township house on West Main Street. In 1938 the collection moved to the Shaub house on the present site, and in 1961 the community built the library's current home at 10 Maple Drive, dedicated November 12 of that year. The building has been expanded four times — in 1964, 1972, 1989 and 1994 — and today occupies 7,155 square feet with a collection of more than 50,000 volumes. In 2006 the library joined the Central Library Consortium (CLC), a network of 18 central-Ohio libraries whose shared catalog gives Alexandria cardholders access to more than five million additional items. Ohio Web Library databases and the Ohio Digital Library's Libby service round out the digital offerings available free with any Alexandria card.
