📖 About Community Library

The Community Library is the public library for the Big Walnut area of eastern Delaware County, Ohio, about 20 miles north of Columbus. It held its grand opening on June 3, 1944 with 1,336 books, first tucked below the Kempton barber shop at Cherry and Vernon streets; it moved into Sunbury's Town Hall in 1954 and, fifty years to the summer after it began, opened its own 14,500-square-foot building at 44 Burrer Drive on July 3, 1994. An independent district library rather than a county branch, it serves the six townships and two municipalities that make up the Big Walnut Local School District. The library shares the Cool Cat catalog and connects to Ohio's SEO and OPLIN library networks, so a card here also reaches ebooks, audiobooks and research databases shared statewide.
