📖 About Lebanon Public Library
The Lebanon Public Library is the public library of Lebanon, Ohio, the seat of Warren County. Its roots reach back to a $10,000 grant from Andrew Carnegie in 1906; when construction costs ran over, former Lebanon resident and philanthropist William E. Harmon donated an additional $3,500, and the Carnegie library opened to the public on January 1, 1908 at 101 South Broadway. In 1940 library service was extended to all residents of Warren County, and in 1943 the library launched a bookmobile that carried "Free Library Service" to schools and villages beyond Lebanon. The building was expanded over the years — a 1987 addition famously survived the collapse of a 20-foot wall during construction, with no one hurt — and the library now runs its collection on a Polaris catalog while lending eBooks and audiobooks through the statewide Ohio Digital Library.
