📖 About Mason County Public Library

Mason County Public Library has served Maysville and Mason County since the 1800s — the lineage of the Maysville and Mason County Library, Historic and Scientific Association was chartered in 1878, making it one of Kentucky's longest-standing public library traditions. The current building at 218 E. Third Street sits in the heart of historic downtown Maysville, a city perched above the Ohio River on the edge of the Bluegrass region. A 2,000-square-foot addition designed by MSE of Kentucky was completed in 2002, expanding the facility. The library holds a fine-free policy, operates the Library 2 Go! homebound-delivery van, and loans museum-experience passes to sites like the Kentucky Gateway Museum Center and the Explorium of Lexington through its Adventures Beyond Books program. Its mission — to inspire lifelong learning, advance knowledge, and strengthen its community — spans storytime for infants to adult technology classes and Ancestry Library Edition access for genealogy research.
