📖 About Scott County Public Library
The Scott County Public Library is the public library serving Georgetown and Scott County, Kentucky, in the heart of the Bluegrass region north of Lexington. Its roots reach back to 1910, and in 1913 the local Civic League — founded by Anne Payne Coffman — ran a 50-book portable library from a Main Street shoe store; the library was formally incorporated on October 28, 1922. After decades on East Main Street, it opened its current building at 104 South Bradford Lane in 2000, with a major 2016 expansion adding youth-services space, a recording studio, meeting rooms and an art gallery, followed by a 2021–2022 renovation that enlarged its study and meeting rooms. Today the library is a special taxing district governing a main library plus satellite locations in Sadieville and Stamping Ground, a bookmobile and outreach service, so a Scott County card reaches readers across the whole county.
