📖 About Kōloa Public and School Library
Opened in June 1976 and designed by Wilson Okamoto and Associates, the 10,400-square-foot Kōloa Public and School Library was built as Kauaʻi's first and only library of its kind, doing double duty for Kōloa Elementary School students and the wider public. It serves the south-shore communities of Kōloa, Poʻipū, Kukuiʻula, ʻŌmaʻo, Lāwaʻi and Kalāheo with books, computers, broadband access and digital resources. In 2024 the building added four outdoor murals celebrating local art, and in July 2026 the community gathered for its 50th-anniversary celebration with lei poʻo demonstrations, crafts, live music and a Lego lounge.
