📖 About Lester Public Library of Arpin
Arpin, Wisconsin grew up around the logging operations of John Baptiste Arpin and his twin brother Antoine, French-Canadian immigrants who built a sawmill on Little Hemlock Creek around 1890. The village was also home to a pioneering Jewish agricultural settlement established in 1901 with support from Baron Maurice de Hirsch's Industrial Removal Office — one of the few such communities in central Wisconsin. Today the village numbers roughly 305 residents, and the Lester Public Library of Arpin stands as its primary public resource for reading, research, and learning. The library offers an extended-hours schedule across six days a week, with evening hours Monday and Thursday to accommodate working families. Cardholders have free access to BadgerLink, Wisconsin's statewide portal for research databases, eBooks, newspapers, and genealogy resources, as well as Libby for digital borrowing. The library is part of the Mid-Wisconsin Federated Library System (MWFLS), connecting patrons to a broader network of resources across central Wisconsin.
