📖 About Amery Area Public Library

The Amery Area Public Library is the public library of Amery, Wisconsin, a city of about 3,000 in Polk County in the state's scenic northwest. It was founded in the fall of 1928 by the Amery Woman's Club and opened its doors on January 19, 1929. Over the next century, the library moved four times — from East Birch Street to Center Street in 1950, then to the former Fire Department quarters in 1977, into the Amery Regional Medical Center building in 2008, and finally to its current home in the City Center Building at 104 Maple Street West in February 2022. It joined the Indianhead Federated Library System in 1978 and was selected as Wisconsin Library of the Year by the Wisconsin Library Association in 1989. Today it circulates over 90,000 items per year from a collection of 50,077 volumes and provides Polk County residents with full access to BadgerLink — Wisconsin's statewide digital library — plus a Friends of the Library book sale room and the JobPod career-services kiosk.
