📖 About Henry A. Malley Memorial Library
The Broadus post office was established in 1900, named for the Broaddus family of ranchers; a bureaucrat's pen dropped one 'd' from the name. Powder River County was formed in 1919 and Broadus was named county seat in 1920, thanks in part to the town's reliable supply of artesian water. The Henry A. Malley Memorial Library at 102 South Lincoln serves this far-flung community of roughly 500 residents and the wider ranching landscape of Powder River County. The library is a member of the Sagebrush Library Federation, a network of ten public libraries in southeastern Montana that share resources through the Montana Shared Catalog and participate in MontanaLibrary2Go, the statewide consortium that provides downloadable eBooks and audiobooks through Libby. Children 8 and older may use library internet terminals with parental approval. Photocopying and printing are available at 25 cents per black-and-white page.
