📖 About Carrollton-North Carrollton Public Library
Carroll County was established in 1833 from Choctaw treaty lands ceded by the Treaty of Dancing Rabbit Creek, and Carrollton was founded in April 1834 as the county seat. Named for Charles Carroll of Carrollton, Maryland — the last surviving signatory of the Declaration of Independence — the town grew as a cotton-trading center in the antebellum era and preserves some of the oldest courthouse grounds in Mississippi. The Carrollton-North Carrollton Public Library at 1102 Lexington Avenue is the main branch of the Carroll County Public Library System, which also serves the community of Vaiden. The library provides book lending, free Wi-Fi, fax services, a foyer giveaway-book collection, and a shared catalog through the Carroll Public Library System online platform. All Carroll County cardholders receive free home access to MAGNOLIA, the statewide database consortium funded by the Mississippi Legislature, as well as downloadable titles through Libby.
